Kids phone price & plan changes: the public log

Our pipeline checks each vendor's official pricing page weekly. Every detected change lands here with a date and a source. No editorialising — just the record, plus the current state of every number we track.

5 of 15 core price fields are blank: mostly activation fees no vendor states, plus one phone sold bring-your-own-carrier that has no plan price of its own. We leave the gap visible rather than filling it with an estimate. Which brand publishes what, and on which page, is worked through on the price transparency page.

Change log

Latest entry: 2026-09-07. Read a row as "on this date, this field on this vendor's own page changed from the old value to the new one" — the price the vendor advertised, not a price we negotiated or estimated.

How this log is produced

1. Retrieval. A scheduled job fetches each vendor's official pricing page — the same URL linked from every device page — once a week.
2. Extraction. We read prices out of the static HTML of both the handset page and the plan page, which for some vendors are different pages on different subdomains. Anything we still cannot find is recorded as null rather than estimated.
3. Comparison. Extracted values are diffed against the stored dataset. Any difference opens a pull request rather than writing straight to the site, so a change is visible before it is published.
4. Verification. A human confirms the change against the live page and merges. Only then does the device page's Verified date move.

What counts as a change

We log movements in the three fields that determine what you actually pay: the device price, the cheapest monthly plan, and the activation fee. Plan renames, marketing copy, and limited-time banner discounts are not logged — they revert too often to mean anything. A promotional price becomes a logged change only if it is still the advertised price at the next weekly check.

Both files are generated from the same source as the table above, so they cannot drift apart from what you see on this page. A blank cell (CSV) or null (JSON) always means the vendor doesn't publish that figure — it is never a zero and never an estimate.
